Pakistan are through to the final of the home ODI tri-series after a dramatic one-wicket win over England at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Sunday, October 25. Shadab Khan and Haris Rauf completed the chase with a record last-wicket stand, Yahoo Sports and ESPNcricinfo reported. The result keeps Pakistan unbeaten after three matches and leaves England, beaten in all three games, out of contention.

How Pakistan got here

Match 1: beat Sri Lanka by 37 runs (Rawalpindi, Oct 18)

Salman Ali Agha’s 107 lifted Pakistan to 305. Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 268, Radio Pakistan reported.

Match 2: beat England by 87 runs (Rawalpindi, Oct 20)

From 81 for 4, Hasan Nawaz (79) and Arafat Minhas (59) rebuilt to 302 for 9. Minhas then took a career-best 6 for 40 as England were dismissed for 215, match reports showed.

Match 4: beat England by one wicket (Lahore, Oct 25)

The decisive last-wicket partnership between Shadab and Rauf sealed Pakistan’s place in the final.

In between, Sri Lanka beat England by two wickets in Rawalpindi, with England failing to defend a total of 429.

Remaining schedule

  • October 27: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, Lahore
  • October 29: England vs Sri Lanka, Lahore
  • October 31 (final): Lahore, 1.30pm PKT

All matches are day-night games, according to Wisden.

Why it matters

With the 2027 ODI World Cup on the horizon, the series is a chance to settle Pakistan’s combinations. The middle order’s ability to recover from early collapses, and an all-rounder like Minhas emerging, are the biggest positives so far.
