What went right
Squash, once Pakistan’s pride, is clearly reviving, with three medals from a new generation of players. Men’s volleyball beating China and hockey’s bronze against South Korea show that team sports with sustained investment can compete in Asia.
What’s missing
For the second Games in a row, Pakistan did not win a gold. Athletics, wrestling and weightlifting, traditional sources of medals, did not feature on the podium this time. Federations and the Pakistan Sports Board will face questions about funding, coaching and competition exposure before the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
